Prepare the Way Ministry Week 5

March 27-April 2, 2006

Dear Friends of Prepare the Way Ministry,

All we can say is, “God is so good!” This has been an amazing week in the Lord. He has opened doors to us in miraculous ways. This week God provided a van for the ministry here in Africa. It is a beautiful diesel, four wheel drive 1993 vehicle. We have had up to 30 children in it already. It is set apart and dedicated to the Lord for His use only.

The other amazing provision of the Lord is the property that Prepare the Way Ministry has rented. We are renting five acres in the village of Seya. Seya is located about six miles from Lugazi just beyond the sugar cane fields. The property is beautiful. It has many types of fruit trees. The land is very fertile. One of our main reasons for renting the land is to be able to grow most of the food needed for the children’s home. The property is the new location of the Seya Bible School which Bill started last fall.

We have asked David, our Swahili worship leader, to live on the property and maintain it. He is passionate to work hard with his hand and evangelize the entire village for Jesus. There is a sturdy house on the land. It definitely needs work. We are in the process of hooking electricity. There is no running water. A bore hole (well) will be added as well. We will also add a Western bathroom. We do have the option to buy, and we are praying for God’s provision. Bill and Linda walked the property as soon as the paper work was signed. The presence of God was so strong over the area. Both of us were in tears and God spoke into their hearts. Some of the neighbors are “borrowing” the land and have many crops planted. They will harvest their present crops before we start planting. As we walked down a long path we couldn’t help looking at the beautiful hills on both sides of the property. We went down a fairly steep slope and found at the bottom there was a breathtaking scene. We came upon a little pond. The pond was being fed from water that was literally coming out of a small hole in a large rock! God began speaking to us about His provision. Just as He provided for the children of Israel, He would provide for Prepare the Way. The neighbors come to this area to receive the water of life. God is so amazing!  About a week after we rented the land, we learned that Pastor Josiah who is an intercessor has been coming to this very property for three years asking God to use it for HIS GLORY!

We arrived at the children’s home early Sunday morning. The excited and happy little singing group called The Miracle Band and two young preachers along with two adults were headed to minister in Njero.

Some of them had never been as far as Jinja before. When we arrived it looked like rain. If it rained the van would be stuck due to the condition of the path we were parked on. The children prayed for a sunny day. We saw that the dark clouds quickly moved over our area. The sweet presence of the Lord covered the church as the children began to sing, “Here I am to Worship”.

They are becoming passionate, and they worship with all of their hearts and all of their strength. As Bill began to preach the main service, the children all gathered outside. We sang unto the Lord. After we convinced the local drunk to leave, we invited one of our girls to preach. She spoke in Luganda about the Son of man appearing and separating the sheep from the goats. Next one of our boys preached on loving your enemies and blessing those that curse you, also in Luganda. We prayed for the children. As the candy was being handed out, Linda rushed back inside to help Bill pray for the large number of the adults who were hungry for more of God’s presence. The people of this church always desire more of God, and we love seeing how deeply God is changing the pastor and his church.

Sunday evening, a gathering of the Lugazi pastors was held in the new city hall. The anointed Miracle Band ministered to the pastors. Again God’s presence rested on them and the pastors were blessed. Bill spoke on the creative power of God’s word. At the end of the message, his interpreter fell on his knees and started crying out to God. The others also began to weep and pray for an increase of God in their lives. We prayed for each of them. God’s presence reached out into the street and touched two women, Florence and Susan, who were passing by the hall. They were drawn into the building to give their lives to Jesus and ask us to pray for her sick child. The women on our ministry team shared Jesus with them outside, and then escorted them into the building to have the local pastors pray for them. The pastors cast the demons out of the two ladies, prayed for the healing of one woman’s child, and led them in a prayer of repentance. The team embraced them and made follow up plans. What happened next took us by surprise. The prayer coordinator of the Lugazi pastors asked the pastors to gather around us to pray for us. They commissioned us with an apostolic anointing. They told us that this is the true message and is the message that the pastors of Lugazi needed! The senior pastor told Pastor Bill that he is to Lugazi what Apostle Paul was to the early churches, as he challenged and encouraged them. They opened the gates of Lugazi to us. We stood speechless in the presence of these humble men and our holy God.

We were in Seya all week. I will dedicate the next news letter to this wonderful week. At the close of the week, on Saturday, Linda had a children’s crusade in the Seya church. We took all of our forty-four children from Faith Children’s Home. On one trip, we had thirty of the smaller children in the van. Laughter, singings, and excitement filled air as we traveled over the bumpy, rutted out roads past the sugar cane fields to the village. We arrived at the property to find about sixty children waiting. The older children started to carry benches on their heads the several blocks to the church. We had chosen different children than the ones who ministered in Njero to have an opportunity to led the worship. We had little drummers. Linda dressed like a clown spoke on the importance of the presence of God and hiding God’s word in their hearts. She tried to hide from God under an umbrella. Mr. Bible and Miss Heart showed how sin separates us from God’s presence.

We learned how to hear the voice of God. After handing out stickers and sweeties, we all walked back to the property. We gathered in a huge circle. Linda shared with the children how God had led us to rent the land, and how we needed them to pray to dedicate this land to the Lord and ask for provision to buy the property. This acreage would become gardens to feed the children. A roar went up along with clapping. We had photos taken before we started praying and during the time we were praying. The grounds were beginning to darken as the sun was setting. That night as we looked at the pictures, we were awe struck as we saw that there was sun light out of heaven shining into the middle of our circle when the children began to pray.

The FCH children started to worship as balloons were handed out to the children of Seya. There once again was a strong presence of the Lord. The pastor’s wife was so thrilled to see this. She said that children have such little value in Uganda. It was evident that is not how Jesus feels about these little ones.

Thank you for breaking the ground in prayer. It seems that we are reaping what you and others have sown in prayer.
