April 10-16, 2006

Dear Friends,

We are amazed how quickly the time here is passing. Bright and early on Monday morning we had our strong team of pastors and friends prepared and ready to travel to Bungoma, Kenya. Half of the team took public transport due to not wanting to overload the van as it traveled over the rugged roads. Bill was swerving back and forth to avoid the deepest ruts and right of way. You must drive to stay alive and not to be right. We always pray for protection when we travel anywhere. Pedestrians, bicycles, and motorcycles all travel on the main roads. People are killed every day walking on the highway. Please pray for us as we travel.

We arrived at the Kenya border and were immediately surrounded by 'brokers'. These men want to walk you from window to window for a fee. Even when you tell them you don?t need their services, they stay with you and walk with you. At the end, they still want you to pay them. After two hours, we finally made it across the border and headed to Bungoma for the first night's class.

Bill taught night in a Bible school each evening on Israel?s history. We found a very intelligent group of students that loved to study. They may not have been prepared for the challenging messages brought to them. God revealed the condition of each heart. People want to hear from God. They are tired of dead religion. The pastor over this Bible school has the beautiful heart of a servant and demonstrated loving leadership. He blessed us throughout the week.

Each day we went to a different village church which our host pastor had planted. The first day we were in Bukuyudi Village. We took a walk around the village when we arrived. We introduced ourselves to a family near the church. The language in Kenya is Swahili so even the Ugandans were at a disadvantage. The family was so happy to meet us. They insisted we come into their house and pray for each member of the family. The father was a believer who had been faithfully serving Jesus since 1970. The man was unable to read the Word of God due to vision problems. Linda had a pair of reading glasses in her bag. She gave them to the man, and he was able to see clearly with them on. He said that God really loves him to send someone from a far country to bring him goggles so he could read the Bible. As we arrived at the church, the service had started. It took place under a stick and grass structure. Bill chose to sit as he preached due to the sticks in the low ceiling poking him in the head when he stood. The people responded to the message. One lady was set free from demons.

On Wednesday, we went to the village of Kimalewa. The pastor of the church had been our interpreter for the week. He is able to flow in the same anointing as Bill. He put his heart and strength into interpreting. God was moving strongly in his life. Each day we took our van full of our team of eight plus another van with twelve people from the Bungoma church.  We prayed over each one. One woman we prayed for had been tormented by demons. After prayer, her countenance changed and her eyes were full of light. She testified that something had been pulled out of her and she felt the pressure in her chest was gone. We prayed for a village pastor. God was asking her to fall in love with Jesus again and her burden would become light. Ministry would flow out of her relationship with Him. A little grandmother gave her heart to Jesus and was healed of chest pain. Others received deeply from the Lord.

Thursday morning, we found ourselves in Busambe. The team has been receiving impartations each day. As soon as we arrived at the mud church, the team entered and started preparing the atmosphere with worship. After a wonderful time of worship, two women shared their testimonies from the previous year when Bill had come. The first had a large hump on her back. After prayer, the hump disappeared and God took all the pain away. She has been able to dig ever since. She was laughing and jumping causing an expectation to spread throughout the church. The next woman had been crippled and could barely move. God touched her body and she has had full movement without pain. She was also full of joy.

As Bill began speaking on the creative power of God's word, each window and door filled with people looking in and listening. After the preaching, Bill felt God instruct him to take everyone outside of the four walls of the church. As we all went outside to worship, more local villagers gathered to watch. God moved in a wave of healing. He instantly healed each one completely that came for prayer. When signs and wonders occur, people are drawn to God. One woman was holding a child. She was full of demons and suffered pain in her body. Tears rolled down her face as God set her free and took away her pain. We continued to dance in a circle and worship. As people entered in, they were becoming so free in Jesus.

Next, we were taken to a house for lunch. The word had spread and villagers started coming to where we were for prayer. A woman with severe pain came. God touched her. She lay on the floor under the presence of God for some time. When she got up, she began to shake her head up and down, and back and forth without pain. She started clapping and thanking God for healing her. Each day some members of the team have chosen to fast and pray for breakthroughs. God is moving in the depths of these wonderful friends of Jesus.

Friday was our last day in villages. God's love is a consuming fire. God wants to burn up all that is not pure or holy in our lives. His fire purifies and leaves only the gold but it burns up all the rest. The people were challenged with, "Do you really want revival?" Revival is costly. Were they ready to have God's fire burn up all the fleshly desires? We prayed for the cleansing fire of God to consume lives. People were weeping. There was such an awe of God in the place. Most were deep in His presence. Many were on their faces not wanting to move. When you can have God's presence, little else has value.

The kingdom of God must be advanced in Africa. Please keep praying.

Love,

Bill and Linda Campbell
