WEEK 4-PART 1 CRUSADE IN KENYA
As we traveled through Kenya, we viewed the majesty of God displayed in his creation. We saw beautiful countryside, mountains, hills, and amazing rock formations. God of all creation, my prayer is that You awaken hearts to the beauty of You so that all mankind can truly know relationship with the King of all kings.
Our team consisted of three pastors (Joel, Barnabas, Bill), two ladies (Irene and myself), Aloysius, our driver who is also our friend, camera man and security guard. We also had Chairman, our Muslim friend. Chairman has been watching our lives for three years. He is on a quest to find out if a Muslim can be born again. Up until our meeting Chairman, he thought all Christians were hypocrites. He had never seen Christians that could get along with each other. He was mistreated and hated by them. The love of God is compelling him. He knew if he came, we wanted him to attend all services.
BUNGOMA TRAINING CENTER
Upon arrival in Bungoma, we went to the Bible training center under Pastor Ishmael. Pastor Bill presented a very challenging message about being clean on the outside but having a heart that is distant from the heart of God. He talked about if you love God, then you will pursue Him, and He will come and dwell in you. There is a process to desire, a deepening of hunger for the presence of God. We had a time of waiting on God. We walked around praying for everyone. Some began to weep; others were slain in the spirit. One man started making loud noises. Later he testified that when he received prayer, he felt fire come in and go all over his body. He also felt the presence of God come in with the fire. Our God is a consuming fire. This group of about 30-50 students have a deep hunger to know God. They are going out and doing the things that Jesus did. They are praying for the sick, going into hospitals and prisons. They are traveling to distant regions to preach the gospel and are seeing signs following them.
In the morning we loaded our team of seven plus Pastor Ishmael into our van. The rental van was fully packed with the additional thirteen team members from Bungoma, Kenya. After about two hours of traveling, we passed a registration check point. We showed them the legal paperwork and passed through. A few minutes later, Pastor Ishmael received a phone call that the rental van had been stopped due to improper paperwork. Aloysius turned our van around to see what we could do. Upon arrival, we learned that the driver of the other van had a fake driver’s license, illegal registration, and all of the seat belts had been cut off. The police removed the number plates (license) and planned to take the driver to court. We learned that 80% of Kenyans who drive professionally have illegal paperwork. All of the passengers were standing by the side of the road. The entire process took two hours. Pastor Joel paid the driver for the one way trip. Of course the driver had demanded the full pay. We have learned never to give the full pay, or the full job doesn’t get done. The driver returned the money in front of the police. We were able to hire another van to finish the trip. The entire trip with all of the delays took nine hours over rugged terrain.
UNITY IN JESUS
We arrived in the Trans-Mara District which is the land of the Kiisi and the Maasi. These tribes have violently opposed each other for generations. In 2002, several wealthy Christians decided to be true ambassadors for Christ. They hosted a gathering of Christians in the mountains for the purpose prayer and fasting for healing between the tribes. They prayed until there was a break though in the spirit. Shortly after that, the government declared peace between the tribes. They now pass freely back and forth to buy and sell.
HEALED FROM DEAFNESS
The first crusade was held in Magena which is Kiisi land. This young church was planted by Pastor Johosephat and is 1 ½ yrs old. The crusade was an open air crusade. The people were standing around staring at us. The team shared. God spoke to me in the morning to tell me that he was going to heal someone from deafness that evening. I called for someone with deafness. No one came for quite some time. Eventually a man came from way out in the crowd who did not appear to be a church person. He was deaf in the left ear. Pastor Ishmael interpreted and prayed with me. The crowd grew closer in to see what would happen. God healed the man completely from deafness. He gave glory to God in front of the crowd of people. Then Bill challenged everyone out of the book of James. We prayed for many people that night. There were many salvations and healings.
MUSLIM SEEKING GOD
In the morning seminar, Chairman was able to see the love and unity that Christ brings. There were Maasi and Kiisi in the same meeting. Five different streams from Bungoma were present-Word of Faith, Rhema, Missionary Fellowship…Pastor Ishmael testified that the teachings of Christ presented by Pastor Bill has united all of these different churches. He then gave a testimony of serving pagan gods and being a Muslim before coming to Christ. Chairman stood up and said he loved born agains. He told that he is a Muslim but next time they see him, he would probably be born again. He plans to discuss what he has seen and heard with his family. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” He was loved, honored, and accepted by everyone.
The afternoon session was on Jacob remembering the promise of God through his father, Abraham. He went after God and pursued Him. At the close of the service, we prayed for everyone in the church. The Spirit of God was so strong. Many were healed from disease and pain. Others went down by His Spirit. The team is strong in the Lord. Some of them were praying and fasting throughout the day for break through. There is a strong anointing on them as they pray for others. God healed two people with deafness, a woman with a barren womb who had been to a witch doctor, chest pain, etc.
TESTIMONIES FROM THE CRUSADE
One young man had never spoken before. God set him free from a mute spirit. The first words out of his mouth were “Praise God” in the Swahili language. He had an enormous smile on his face. He kept repeating what the interpreter told him to say. He would hear his own voice and smile all over again. God was canceling the works of Satan. Victory in Jesus.
Another young lady was able to utter incoherent audible sounds. God touched her and she was able to repeat sounds and words with clarity. Her family member was present and said she was never able to do that before.
A young child was brought to us who “would fall down.” I discerned a spirit of epilepsy. The spirit was cast out in Jesus’ name.
An emaciated woman with pain in all parts of her body came to us. The Lord revealed that she had AIDS. The spirit of AIDS was broken off her life.
A man was brought to us that had been declared by the community to be demonized. He had malaria and madness. First the man was led to the Lord by a local pastor who spoke the language. The demons were cast out. The man testified that he felt the demons leave his body.
Another man smelling strongly of alcohol was delivered from witchcraft, alcohol, and drug abuse.
Several young people with deafness came to us. God broke off the deaf and dumb spirit and their hearing was fully restored to them.
Due to space, I cannot list all that Jesus did in Kiisi land, but His Name has been glorified in the region.
Pastor Ishmael held the revival. He testified that there were 400 in attendance. They were slain in God’s presence and it was so wonderful.
PLEASE KEEP PRAYING FOR US
Thank you for praying for us. Please keep Bill in prayer this next month. He will be going into Sudan, and northern areas of Uganda. This week is the Seya conference with pastors and leaders from Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda gathering in one accord for an intensive week of seeking the face of God.
Blessings,
Pastor Bill and Linda Campbell
