Visitors Come to Gulu

Hi Friends,

This past week has been spent with an amazing team of from the United States. In 2000, I was on a mission trip with Living Word Christian Center out of Minneapolis, MN. It was at that time, I met Pastor Kent. We met up in Minneapolis at my parent?s house and made arrangements for him to bring a team to Uganda. He arrived with a team (Pastor Kent, Von, Marlene, and Shawn) to spend a week with us in Uganda. From the moment we met up with this team, there was a sweet presence of Jesus and a strong bond of unity.

The team arrived in Lugazi sometime after midnight on Friday. Saturday morning, we went deep into the bush to minister in Pastor Hudson's home village. Some of the children from Faith Children's Home helped to minister in worship. Each team member shared from their heart. There was a little girl of two years who had never walked. God touched her body. The mother put her on the ground, and she began to walk to her mother. The mother had tears in her eyes as she watched in amazement. Others were set free from demonic forces. Pastor Hudson?s sister-in-law gave her heart to the Lord.

Sunday, the team ministered in bush churches. They reported a move of God in worship and prayer time. We had lunch in the village after which we had a large village and town children?s crusade. The team prayed for each of the 300+ children present.

Monday was a high light for everyone. In the morning we went to Faith Children's Home in Lugazi followed by a trip to Seya. We stopped at the primary school to deliver the educational posters. Shawn explained each poster and presented them to the Anet, the head teacher (Pastor Josiah's wife). Meanwhile, Pastor Kent and Von were praying at the foundation site for the new church with Pastor Josiah. Von is a strong weeping intercessor and he was being deeply moved by God. He had his arms wrapped tightly around Pastor Josiah. Pastor Kent was sitting in the dirt running the soil through his fingers, deep in prayer. The team gathered together with the girls joining in. Von did not feel a release from God to leave the place. Pastor Kent shared that as he was praying, he saw a slaughter ground with blood everywhere. The Lord told him that there was blood in the soil. At this point, everyone was weeping in deep sorrow. Pastor Josiah repented for his people and his ancestors.

While walking to Hope Children's Home, Pastor Josiah shared that the people had always feared the area where the church was located all the way to the children?s home because it had been a place used to slaughter children as sacrifices to demonic gods. I stood in disbelief as he said that the very house that is now Hope Children's Home was originally built for and use to slaughter children! There have been years of prayer over the property of Hope Children's Home. God has now redeemed the land and it is a place of blessing children who had no hope. I am in awe of God. He takes what Satan means for evil and uses it for good for His glory. It is really fun to be a small part of taking back ground for God.

The very same day, both Shawn and Marlene decided to become mamas to a few of the children who were waiting to be sponsored and move into Hope Home. The legal paperwork had already been done for little Florence, Shawn?s new daughter. Marlene chose to sponsor Ronnie and Gertrude. She was able to go to Gertrude's house to meet the mom. She poured her love out to her and promised to take good care of Gertrude. The excited little mamas carefully chose clothes and gifts for their children. We all went back to Hope Home so the gifts could be given to their new children. I cried and laughed. It was so beautiful. Before my eyes, the sad little children were filled with joy. The language barrier didn't affect the language of the heart. These children and mamas "knew" they had found a deep and precious love with each other. The mamas smothered their new little ones with hugs and kisses. The children soaked it up and snuggled in for more. The love that was exchanged was so deep that I could not speak. God was healing deep wounds of the heart.

The team was out of the area for a few days. Part 2-Gulu will arrive in a separate letter. The final day before the departure of the team to Congo was to be spent visiting Mercy's home village. Gertrude, Ronnie, and Florence were all hiding in the back room. The team arrived for breakfast, and they were seated in the living room. The children all came out and ran into the arms of their new mamas. It was just so sweet. Big daddy, Von even had little Viola in his lap. He was praying over her. She is the one that God miraculously saved from the grip of death just a few weeks prior.  God loves His children.

Pastor Kent and the Living Word team were such a blessing to us. It was very hard when they left. They departed to travel to Congo where they would surprise Von's missionary daughter, who knew the team was coming but was unaware of her father's arrival. God bless you guys.

Is 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news.

Blessings,
