Feeding The Poor In Jesus' Nameby Linda Campbell October 15, 2007 To all of our wonderful friends, The goodness of God is beyond my comprehension. I want to shout it from the mountain tops. GOD IS GOOD TO ALL. I would like to share with you some of His wonderful blessings to the people of Africa. Our son, Brian has arrived home to the US safely but he has left his heart in Uganda. He sent me an email from Uganda talking about his African son, Ivan who was sick. Brian bought vitamins for him and saw him quickly improve. He challenged his mother who is a nurse with the fact that it would be better to provide vitamins for the children to avoid some of the illnesses. He decided to take it on as a project. A dear friend of mine wrote: I want you to tell BRIAN that God HEARD his prayer and hearts cry! I made contact with a ministry whose calling and mission it is to provide VITAMINS for MISSIONS! For $3.65 a year per child, the children can have HIGH QUALITY chewable vitamins! www.behiswitness.org Their vision originally was to see 1,000,000 children in Africa on daily supplements, which would help their brains to develop properly so they could retain their full brain function to be educated and grow into Godly Christians and reach the world with the Gospel.... This friend has sponsored the first six months supply of vitamins for both Faith and Hope Children’s Homes. I thought it would be too expensive to purchase vitamins. God answers prayer when His children just ask.
Saturday night the kitchen was busy at Hope Children’s Home. Over one hundred villagers had been invited for a community gathering and a free meal. Almost three hundred people turned out, many walking for over two miles coming from huts in the surrounding hillsides. They were all seated in the shelter built for the Bible College located behind the children’s home. Children were everywhere. Fragile old people who had not eaten for some time were there. Pastor Josiah said many existed on tea alone as they no longer had the strength to farm the land. Bill remembered twin girls who were about 10 months old and looked very malnourished. They sat on the ground and ate their food with their hands just like the adults. His heart was so touched by the beauty of these uncomplicated people so in need of Jesus. Feed My Starving Children, a wonderful organization out of Minneapolis donated hundreds of packages of delicious rice packed full of dehydrated vegetables, soy, and vitamins for feeding people in Africa. http://www.fmsc.org/ Five enormous pots full of the rice, beans, and beef were being spooned out in an assembly line fashion. People came back for seconds and then for thirds. No one remembered having such a memorable community event. Most had not seen their neighbors in years. After everyone had eaten until they could hold no more, the team began to lead the worship. Bill prayed with them and felt that everyone had either given their lives to the Lord for the first time or committed it to Him again. There was a sweet presence and peace of the Lord. Even the neighboring children behaved in a soft manner. They then showed a Christian cartoon for the children and a movie about Jesus for the adults. Most of the people had never seen a movie before, and their eyes were glued to the sheet with the moving pictures. Many of the people from the community event of the night before were in church the next day. They were able to receive the Word of God with gladness and have hope restored to their lives. They were challenged to seek after God with all of their hearts. One man testified that last year, Bill grabbed him on the road and told him that he needed to give his life to the Lord. He shared that his life had been changed when he became a Christian. Bill arrived in India today where he will minister for eight days into the family of a precious friend of ours. He will also be speaking in a few churches. Some of the work that God is doing may appear slow to the human eye but is of a very deep nature within the hearts of men. When God is changing a heart and transforming a life, it is the greatest miracle of all. Please pray that the Word of the Lord will fall on ground that is not hard, rocky, or shallow. Pray that there will be a harvest that will remain. Thank you for praying. Your prayers are preparing the soil for the Word of God in many lives. In the harvest field for the Lord, Pastor Bill and Linda Campbell |
