Tornado Warning

To all of our friends,
PRAISE THE LORD for His goodness, mercy, and grace. Bill and Brian arrived safely in Uganda about twelve hours later than planned. We all know that man makes his plans, but God directs his paths. The beauty of walking in the plan of God for your life is that although it is full of surprises, He leads you by His own hand. There was a tornado in Minneapolis which delayed the flight to Amsterdam. When the guys arrived in Amsterdam, they had missed their connecting flight to Entebbe, Uganda. The tired travelers were routed to London and finally to Entebbe. The sun was just rising to greet Bill and Brian as they landed in Uganda, “The Pearl of Africa”. God’s ways are higher than our ways. The new head of customs is a Christian man who met Bill upon his arrival. Great favor was given to our twenty-two 70# boxes, two suitcases, and four carry-on pieces. Everything arrived safely and there were no hassle in customs. Thank you for praying. The prayers of a righteous man availeth much.
I have been reading in Habakkuk over the past few days. 1:5 “Look among the nations and watch—be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you.” AND 2:2-3 “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” God has given the vision, and even now we are seeing it fulfilled.
Before this trip, Brian, our son had never been to Africa. He has been sponsoring a child by the name of Ivan from Faith Children’s Home. Through communication over the past few years, their hearts have become close. Bill arranged for Ivan to come to the airport. Neither Ivan nor Brian knew that the other would be there. Ivan approached Brian and said “Hi, dad”. They were both overjoyed to be united at last. Brian will spend as much time as he can with Ivan over the next few weeks.
These are the kind of relationships that are being developed between the children of Faith and Hope Children’s Homes and their parents/sponsors. We have had several sponsors meet their children. I have tearfully watched little faces start to shine with love and joy. If any of you ever want to go to Uganda and meet these children, please let us know. Each time someone comes, it reinforces to the children how very valuable they are.
Our friend, Debby Spruill just returned from Uganda. She brought forth challenging messages in both Lugazi Miracle Center (Pastor Hudson’s church) and Seya Revival Center (Pastor Josiah’s church). Debby has a heart of love, and she blessed and ministered to all the children and staff. They love her and call her Mama Debby.
Another scripture that has been on my heart in relation to this trip is out of Luke 12.
“Then he said to His disciples, ‘Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. . . And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? . . . And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. Do not fear little flock, for it is you Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’”
In the early years of our marriage, we would read these verses and ask each other if God really meant what He said in these difficult words. This concept is so foreign to how we, as Americans, think. Of course, we should invest in our future and build for ourselves large retirement funds to take care of our every need. Somehow deep in our hearts, we always knew that we could take God at His word. We knew that unless we risked it all, we could never gain it all. We would never know if we could trust Him with our lives. We would never know that serving Jesus is more satisfying that gaining earthly wealth. God uses some to gain wealth so that they can bless the kingdom, and that is their call and they are being obedient in it. Others are called to change nations through prayer. He knows each of our hearts, and why we do what we do. For us though, the call was to go. I guess maybe we are the lowest part of the body, the feet. Unless we went we would never know that those that abandon themselves fully to Jesus become the friend of God. We have chosen to invest in eternity rather than in the here and now. What is a man guaranteed in this life anyway? Jim Elliot missionary to the Peruvian Indians penned these words, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”
Let’s serve Jesus with all of our hearts, all of our souls, and all of our strength. Please pray for us. We are fully aware that everything that happens in Africa is because you are praying. God has joined us together, so together we can see the glory of God cover the earth.
For the King and for His kingdom,
Pastor Bill and Linda Campbell
