Talking From The Heart
by Bill and Linda Campbell
July 18, 2007
Dear friends of Prepare the Way Ministry,
We apologize for the time of silence. We had no intention of going so long without communicating with you. To update you on what we have been doing requires you to know that God told us to 1) sell our house 2) finish school 3) go. God has been preparing our hearts and our life circumstances to increase the amount of time that we both spend in Africa. Linda is usually there 2 months a yr and Bill stays for 4 months. We believe that we will be in Africa 8 months of the year by 2008. We have both been working very hard and saving all that we can to return sooner and stay longer. We have also been traveling around and speaking in both home fellowships and churches about twice a month. These have included Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, and Alabama. You are so valuable to us. Truly we are partners together in God’s Kingdom. We feel it is very important to keep our friends connected to the hearts of those in Africa.
The Lord has directed to sell our house and we in that process right now. We are praying for a quick release because He has shown us the urgency of the hour in East Africa. We have learned many valuable lessons in this place. We have so many great friends here, and will continue to come to this area. After the house sells, we will move our ministry base to Minneapolis. Our daughter, Amy has already taken a job and moved up to the north land. Brian, our son will join us as well. Both of our extended families live in Minneapolis. We plan to live as inexpensively as is possible. When in the States, Linda will continue to work as a nurse, and Bill will finally be able to focus his time and attention fully on ministry. The goal is to pour out all that God has given us and will give us to those that are hungry in East Africa.
We recently had our first year certificate students graduate from the Prepare the Way Ministry Bible School in Uganda and Kenya. They have the choice to continue on for more education. Please rejoice with along with your African brothers and sisters and know it was your prayer and giving that has brought them to this important time in their lives.
Also, Pastor Bill recently completed his Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies and Linda completed her Bachelor’s in Christian Counseling and Master’s in Ministry. We felt it was the Lord’s leading for both of us to be able to function as pastors in Africa.
God loves to bless and surprise his children. He recently reunited us with a dear friend who teaches web design and is going to help us by updating our web site. This has been a burden for quite some time. It was a miracle and we are still amazed by it. And his new wife is so generous to share him with us.
After Linda left Uganda a few months ago, Bill continued ministering and traveled up to Gulu, Uganda. The pastors are now branching out and ministering in one area while Bill is in another. This allows the team to impact more people. During one of the outreaches, Pastor Josiah met a Dinka village pastor living in Gulu. Dinka’s are from Sudan but have been forced to live in the refugee camps in Uganda. This pastor will take Pastor Josiah to the most northern point of Southern Sudan which is a mountain range. This range separates the hostile “Islamic” north from the “Christian” south. We believe that this may be where God will have us set up the Sudan Center. It is a very dangerous area but there is a cry coming from the people to know God. The pastors from Northern Sudan will have to cross the mountains to reach the center because there is no road that goes all the way through Sudan. This also may be where we set up our “underground” children’s home within a village. Please pray for grace and wisdom. We certainly need a lot of it.
Testimonies
Two of our young men who are both from the northern refugee camps, but are presently living and training in Seya, traveled up to Gulu with the team. After the training seminar finished that day they spent their evening practicing what they had been taught. They spent the remainder of the day going door to door and sharing the love of Jesus. 48 young people gave their lives to Christ. These two young men have decided not to live common but to pour themselves out for Jesus.
A man with a bleeding growth in his lower intestinal tract came up for prayer. He was in pain and very weak because of the blood loss as it soaked through his clothes on a continual basis. When Bill prayed, God touched the man. He reported that he felt something burst and fall out of him. He ran from the church soaked in blood. From that day on, the growth and pain have been gone.
As we prepare to transition to full-time ministry, we ask that you join us in prayer. Once again we need God’s grace. If God puts us on your heart to partner with us by helping to support us on a monthly basis as a church, a family, or as an individual, please let us know. God richly bless you.
Blessing,
Pastor Bill and Linda Campbell
