BlogsGive no foot hold to the DevilApril 2, 2008 -
Read all blogs Last year while in Uganda, we purchased a three wheel mini-truck which is motorcycle with a trailer connected to the back. It has proved to be very useful on a day to day basis. We loaded up the cycle truck with our portable speaker, keyboard and our small team of four. I drove for about an hour with the rest of the team bouncing along in the back of this three wheel mini truck on our way to speak at a high school assembly deep in the village. When we arrived at this small rural school, we observed buildings were old and unfinished. Two hundred and fifty students were waiting, eager to welcome us. Kennedy is a young man from Pabbo refuge camp in Gulu who moved to Seya two years ago to be involved with Prepare the Way Ministry. This is the high school he attends. He began leading the praise and worship. It was great to see teenagers enter in with such joy and freedom. Our time was limited so I was prayerful as I brought the Word of God. The text was taken from Ephesians on the topic of Paul urging them not to give the devil a foothold in their lives. It took a few minuets to find an equivalent idea that the students would understand. Fred, another young man who is part of the ministry, was playing the keyboard. He also ended up interpreting for me as my scheduled interpreter was late. We explained how the foothold that Satan was looking for came from loosing sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. There was a noticeable hunger in these student’s eyes as they heard the Good News that God wanted to be near to them. It seemed that 90% of the students responded eagerly to the Word. We have been invited back to do a full day of ministry with the students. Some of the students are Christians and others are not yet saved. The open door hear in Uganda is amazing. Linda and I have such an urgency to bring the truth of the nearness of God to these people. Please continue to pray for us that we can spend our lives for the glory of God and be your faithful ambassadors here in Uganda. Pastor Bill Leave a comment
