BlogsThe Passion of ChristMarch 19, 2008 -
Read all blogs During the morning Bible study, God began to awaken the hearts of the people. Once again Reverend Joseph and I shared the pulpit. The Holy Spirit coordinated the service as we both spoke on the same topic from different reference points. It was great to watch everyone’s faces as the Holy Spirit brought hope into their hearts. I am quickly becoming friends with many of the Indian pastors. As we have shared meals together, prayed side by side, studied God’s Word, and enjoyed each other’s fellowship; they have opened up about the struggles they face and their need for God’s kingdom to break forth in their lives. The evening service started promptly at 8 pm. The format was familiar as with all services, but I had an unsettled feeling in my spirit. My interpreter had come down with a throat infection. We prayed and God helped him finish the service. God had shown me that the Indian government which is Hindu had put many restrictions on the church. The church had adapted to the restrictions to the point of having lost much of the passion for Christ that had once flowed in the church. As I preached on Christ’s passion becoming our passion, the Holy Spirit allowed me to share with power. The Lord caused them to recognize the loss of passion in their lives. I watched and saw God awaken their hearts. They began to lean forward in their chairs. Every eye was locked on me, as they saw themselves in the message of Christ’s passion. I jumped off the front of the stage and to my surprise my interpreter followed me by also jumping off the stage. I asked for a response to those who wanted more passion and I was able to pray for about 20 people. Some trembled, staggered, and wept. God was moving with power in His church in India again.
