Esther’s father and mother were both witch doctors. One night the father went outside and was attacked by a wild dog. Shortly, thereafter, the mother also went outside and was also attacked by a wild dog. The father died in the morning a few days later. The mother died in the evening of the same day leaving three orphans. Esther was only two years at the time. The children’s uncle took them in. He was very elderly and cared for them for a few years until he was no longer able to do so. Pastor Dawson’s wife who is a close relative and Esther was taken into their family. Esther is from the Mugwere tribe and lived in the region of the Mabire Forest. She is 8 years old and in Primary 1.
Pastor Dawson and his wife are pastoring a church and living in the town of Busembatia. Their vision is to finish and open up a children’s home which now is about 80% completed.
