Steven's father, John Bogere Kalajja died of cncer in April 2001. Steven was very young. He has a 1/2 sister, Iren Kawuma who also lives at Hope Children's Home. The father was a brother to Pastor Josiah Ndifuna, who was ledt with the care of the child after the death of his father. The mother, Rose Nangweni, was the second wife and is living with AIDS. She was unable to care for Steven. She was poor and unable to provide his daily needs. Pastor Josiah brought Steven to Hope Children's Home on the 24th of Jusly 2007. When Steven arrived at the home, he was very rude to the other children and was always getting into fights. He is now a happy and loving child.
Steven attends Sseya Community School. He also attends Sseya Revival Center with Pastors Josiah and Annet Ndifuna. He is from the village of Makoma and the Musoga tribe.
