What does it mean to be A CHILD AT RISK ? What would it be like to wake up one morning only to find that your mother had met her death in the night? The destroyer was AIDS. Your father has other wives and many children and you knew none of them would take you in.
Try to imagine that you had been stolen from off the streets to become a sex slave to the rebel army at the age of 5 or 6! No one would look for you because there was no family to care. Other orphans have been taken and are working in child labor camps for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some of the children in Uganda have been kidnapped and forced to become child soldiers. Brutal beatings await those that attempt to escape.
Even as you read this, there are children being abused or dying on the streets due to lack of care. How would it feel to be an orphan digging among the weeds trying to find something edible to partially fill your hungry stomach? There would be no warm bed, no one to tuck you in at night, no one to love you.
There are thousands of these little "INVISIBLE PEOPLE" in Uganda. Evil and danger lurks on the streets and in the villages. Witch doctors practice their rituals in the darkness. What would you lower yourself to do, if you lived on the streets as a child, just to survive another day? Little hearts become like rocks and a plastic smile is pasted on their faces as they prostitute their bodies? Please God, won't You hear my prayer? Please God, won't You send me a HERO?
"Be a hero in the life of a desperate needy child. Job 29:12 says "I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless that had no one to assist him."
In Uganda 10% of all children are orphans. A hero will focus on the poor, and the poorest of the poor are homeless orphans. For just over a dollar day, the price of a cup of coffee, you can change the life of a child forever."
— Wesley Campbell in Be a Hero
The simplest act of compassion is to not turn away. Prepare the Way Children's Homes operate in Uganda with Christian staff under the direction of the local pastor to ensure that each child will be encircled with love, prayer, the gospel, education, service to others, and a family of believers in the community.
Please look at each of these precious children with a prayerful heart. For $45.00 a month, you can rescue a child by your sponsorship. This will provide Christian schooling, medical care, food, housing, and other needs. If you wish to give $50.00 a month, the additional $5.00 will go to needs like shipping boxes of clothing.
If you will be a HERO for one of them, click on the child you want to sponsor and fill out the information. If you want to give a one time gift to assist with start up expenses like beds and blankets, you can do so on the Contact Us page. Prepare the Way Ministry is a Missouri not-for-profit ministry which receives donations under deductibility provisions of IRS Code 501 (c) (3). Your gift is tax deductible and you will receive an official receipt for IRS purposes, hand written letters of correspondence from your child twice a year and pictures of them yearly.
